Child Law Case Studies

We have worked with and supported many families who have experienced Social Services’ intervention. With our help and a willingness from parents and extended family to work towards a long term solution to family problems, there can be a happy ending. Our case studies illustrate some success stories.

Case Study 1

Ms Y has three girls aged 10, 7 and 3 years old. The youngest child is non-verbal and has significant learning needs. The children’s father has little contact and Ms Y fled the relationship due to domestic abuse when the youngest child was under 1 year old. Read more

Case Study 2 

Ms B had a difficult childhood and from the age of 12 she was placed in foster care because she was beyond her mum’s control. Ms B would abscond from placements, failed to go to school, have unsuitable partners and would use drugs. Read More.

Case Study 3

Mr X has two teenage boys, both of whom were thought by social workers to be suffering harm. Their school attendance was poor and they were under-achieving. Their mother had become addicted to cocaine, and her behaviour had become withdrawn and unpredictable. Read more.

Case Study 4 

Jo is in her early 20s. When she was 17 she became pregnant. The father of the child had a number of issues arising from his troubled upbringing. He struggled to control his emotions and on occasions was violent towards Jo whilst she was pregnant, though he always apologised and promised it would not happen again. Read more.
