What is a social services Section 7 reportWhat is a child social services Section 7 report?

Section 7 reports, also known as Section 7 assessments, typically pertain to child protection or child welfare cases particularly where parents cannot agree about arrangements for their children on separation.

Section 7 reports refer to assessments conducted by CAFCASS and child social services as part of their investigation. These assessments aim to evaluate the safety and well-being of a child within their family or living environment and to promote the welfare of the child being paramount.  The assessment may involve interviews with the child, parents, and other relevant individuals, as well as the collection of information and documentation.

The findings and conclusions of the Section 7 report are submitted to the court. This report may be used to inform decisions regarding a child’s living arrangements, contact with other family members, child protection orders andthe need for ongoing intervention or support services.
